Question

What should my pocket scores be?

Answer

Your gum pockets should all be 3mm or more shallow.

But it is impossible (even for us!) to measure them correctly at home. This is why visiting a dentist or Periodontist who carefully maps the health of your gum foundations is essential.

When there is inflammation, the gum tissue becomes slightly enlarged (imagine inflammation on your skin, like a spot or pimple) so it is prone to bleeding when touched.

Unhealthy gums have increased pocket depths and bleed, even when they are gently assessed.
